On Saturday the 14th of February at Sandwiches, Fried Chicken Sound System presents their sixth birthday celebration and Valentines Day special - I love Fried Chicken.

Six years can go quickly, seem like a lifetime, or be a complete haze. Especially if like FCSS innovators/architects DDog, Kava and Marek, you've been at a party since 2003. Regardless of which of the three boxes you ticked, a few things are certain.

Firstly, if half a decade ago someone had told you KFC Fried Chicken Buckets would be standard issue headwear (it's the new 'New Era' Cap) for Wellington nightclub goers; would you have believed them? Secondly, did you ever expect to hear Young Jeezy and Jay-Z rapping about Black Presidents, much less an actual Black President who listens to Ludacris. Or what about that time you woke up in a bus shelter, or facedown in a plate of crumbed fish and salad at Kenny's Café? You ever see that one coming buddy?

Now, I'm not saying that Fried Chicken can take full credit for all of these things; I'm just saying. And if you remember the Rodney P & Skitz "Jack Daniel's" session of 2004 at Sandwiches, the endless streams of wall to wall, queue of people living up around the corner madness at Good Luck, or the night that The Smashing Pumpkins and The Queens of The Stone Age got turned away from the well beyond capacity party at San Francisco Bathhouse and don't make it to this event; who the fuck are you again? A walking sunglasses display mannequin?

Besides, it's a Valentine's Day extravaganza as well. Treat the one you love to a quarter pack combo followed by the seriously buckwild greasy listening vibes of Bmore, Favela, Hip-Hop, Crunk, Fidgit House, 4x4 Bassline and beyond.

Oh yeah, some ex-pat Raptablist called Mikki Dee is guesting on the night, while taking a holiday from doing it real big in Europe; think Sir-mix-a lot with a Kiwi accent. And of course we can't forget Christchurch Hip Hop stalwart DJ Sticky Fingaz.

Time to get into training yo, for the next three weeks it's nothing but Cash Money Records on the I-Pod, and cold showers of CC & Dry after 5k drinkathlons with nothing but a bottle of Jagermeister to stay hydrated.

Anyone for 'Highway to Hell' by AC/DC at 6am? Its last call people, stay fly till you die; oooookkkkkaaaay!
