RIP GURU / FUCK SOLAR

KEITH 'GURU' ELAM (July 17, 1966 – April 19, 2010)

For those that don't know one of the true legends of our game Keith 'GURU' Elam of Gang Starr and Jazzmatazz fame finally passed today after a long battle with cancer. Some could even say that he has already been gone for a long time now since his 'brain washing' from apparent long time friend and '7 Grand' manager 'Solar'.

For a long time Guru's friends and family were concerned with Solars intentions with Guru, and this became most evident when Guru' fell into a coma a few weeks back.
Stories began to emerge from Those close to Guru including his nephew and Gangstarr partner in crime DJ PREMIER...

Solar slowly was taking control over his assets, denying family hospital visitation, setting up dodgy charities and twitter/press posting under Guru's name all when he was in a COMA!
Even down to GURUS parting statement which we 'APPARENTLY wrote on his his deathbed grabbed from DJ PREMIERS BLOG HERE reeks of some some disgusting shit. In the words of Bumpy Knuckles #heshouldbeburiednotguru.

RIP not only to the man himself but to the men that started it all... RIP to the hope of THAT hiphop album of both GURU & DJ Premier together again dropping and RIP to those who were living for that moment that one day it would be announced that they are touring again...but whatever GURU & PREMO will ALWAYS be Gangstarr, they will ALWAYS be the sure shot and now, if they werent already they will ALWAYS be a LEGACY!

But also, now is not the time to be bitter and angry (which I tend to excel at in the heat of the moment) but time to celebrate the work of one of our GOATS! Peep our homie Duncan Master's blog for a look on the more positive side of growing up with G-man blasting on the teac walkman 24/7 on his amazing agrumpyoldmanwithabeard blog...gives everyone who has been there the fuzzies foreal...

Anyway, We here at the FRIED CHICKEN SOUNDSYSTEM 'INCREASE THE GREASE' crew salute you KEITH 'GURU' ELAM. There probly hasnt been a show in my life which has gone by without playing at least one, let alone a handful of anything Gangstarr related. Practicing my first ever doubles to 'You know my steez'(still can't do it for shit), Jamming out'Just to get a rep' to Tourettes and my Bahama 62 crew's girlfriends and(probly stealing them), or blasting 'Full Clip' to a few thousand people at a rave. I guess the only difference is when we do it from now on you gonna feel that little tingle. You know...that tingle. RIP
